  • Bogan is a name with prestige. history indicates that it originated in England. Possibly from bow makers. I am a Bogan, Will, from South Florida. My family moved here in the early 1950'sfrom New York; so not a long history. My father, George, came from New York. His father, Joseph, emigrated from Russia. I do not know if this was an Ellis Island name for immigrants. Most of our family are college graduates, and contributors to our society. Go Bogans'!!!! I'm proud of the name.

Anybody have any ideas where this branch of the family originated?

  • Yep, We`re from Australia.

`White trash` is a little harsh though `anon` and regarding us being thick and what we think goes on in the USA we get a daily lesson in you culture via `The Jerry Springer Show`.

Us Bogans have a high success rate in adaption (This is how a Bogan survives in the non-Bogan world around us) so you`d better watch us `cause we`ll sneak in with the humans!

    I totally agree with Brenda,

    GO BOGANS!!!!

  • Dear Friends!
Do you know what does a word ‘Bog’ mean in Russian? The English for ‘Bog’ is God! I’m really proud of my surname. I am a Bogan and I live in Moscow. There’s a lot of Bogans in Russia.
My father Arkady was born in 1945 in Belarus. His 85-old father Vladimir lives near Black Sea now. In turn his grandparents were from Scotland. My daughter’s name is Annie and I know she’ll always be a Bogan, because she likes it.
We’re happy to be a part of Boganworld.
    GO BOGAN’S !!!

  • James Bogan from Ohio: It seems that we're cousins. My mother was Annie Bogan (Smith) who lived in Verplanck NY from the late 1930's until she passed away at age 94 in 200. Wasn't your father a cyclist in his youth?

Dan Bogan: Strange you should mention Coatbrige, the town in Scotland where my mother was raised after the family moved to Scotland. There may be some relationship somewhere along the line.
